Ram Tirth is an important ancient Hindu pilgrimage center located 10 km to west of Amritsar city. Ram Tirath is famous because of the fact that Maharishi Valmiki used to live in this place and his hermitage is maintained now in the form of a hut. It is here Mata Sitaji had come from Ayodhya after she had to prove her purity by giving agneepariksha upon insistence by Sri Ram as per epic Ramayana. It is the ashrama of Maharishi Balmiki Ji and birth place of Love and Kush ( sons of Shri Ramachandra ). This holy place is managed by Mandir Sita Mata Love Kush Janam Sthan Prabandak Commttee. There is a big Srovar which is said to digged by Loard Hanumann Ji with 2.5 swipes. There is a Fair for 20 days on Kartik Purnima, more than one Lakh Pilgrims visit Ram Tirth during this fair. Pilgrims take bath in this pavitra sarowar and fulfilled their wishes.
Approx 550 years ago on this place, Mahatma Deepak Ban ji did the penance, then it became the light that it was the same place where ashram of Maharishi Balmiki ji ashram was located and where Maa Sita gave birth to Love and Kush, Then the Mahatma Ji had sanctified the place and build this temple. Mahatma ji then took Jivit Smadhi at this place.
